The frost hit my face as the KRX and I cut through the heavy air like a brick through pudding. I was so consumed with the ride, I barely noticed the wind engulfing my face. Somehow, for me, the dark makes me more focused, more alert, and perhaps strangely, more calm. I wasn’t distracted by my periphery, unlike in the blaring clarity of daylight a few hours before when our group first began driving through the high desert pine and the rosy pink rocks.
Be it ATVs, UTVs, or side-by-sides, the need is no different. When you're riding, racing, or just recovering, energy isn't just important—it's essential. One moment you're crushing a trail, and the next, you're battling the foggy brain that tells you a nap sounds better than finishing that next lap. A mental crash can lead to a literal crash, and it’s risky enough when we’re 100 percent.
For the first time, Can-Am is set to unleash its innovative Maverick R in the world’s toughest off-road challenge: the Dakar Rally. The 2025 event will mark a turning point for the Canadian brand as it takes on the iconic race with a fresh platform and a formidable team of drivers.
For anyone who’s spent time off the beaten path, directions can often feel like a loose suggestion rather than a concrete plan. It’s the nature of off-road exploration: trails twist unexpectedly, signage disappears, and cell service isn’t there when you need it most. To address that, onX Offroad—a popular mapping app for 4x4 adventurers—is introducing turn-by-turn navigation tailored specifically for dirt, rocks, and remote routes.
Your ATV or Side-by-Side (SxS) is not only a significant investment for you, but also a tool you rely on for your work and/or entertainment. The last thing you need is a costly breakdown and repair. The best way to avoid both the cost of a repair and the down time of not having your machine while it awaits the mechanic’s attention is by doing some regular maintenance. By doing some basic ATV or SxS maintenance, you can save yourself a lot of hassle down the trail.
When my friends at WESTx1000 asked if I wanted to help drive and review the new Jackson Racing turbocharged 2024 Honda Talon 1000R-4, I wasn’t about to play hard to get. The job seemed straightforward: get our hands on a Talon, put it through its paces, and share our honest thoughts. Simple, right?
Unless you have pristine sand dunes, scenic mountain trails, or vast open wilderness at your back door, as well as a dealership that offers pick-up and delivery, you’re going to need to trailer your ATV or UTV at some point. I’m going to take a moment to compose myself because I’m betting there is at least one of you out there that has all that. For the rest of us, we have to trailer our machines, and that is going to call for the use of ratchet tie down straps.
The holidays are here, and with them comes the age-old question: What do you buy the off-road riders in your life who already seem to have everything? Whether they’re tearing through muddy trails, cruising across desert dunes, or blazing snowy backroads, you want to give a gift that’s more than just useful—you want something that sparks excitement and fuels their passion for adventure.
To ensure your machine safely arrives at your favorite ride spot, you’ll need some quality towing accessories to get the job done.
The specifications for the Sokol ATV are truly remarkable and more in line with a side-by-side than anything with handlebars. Sokol's four-wheeler is 114 inches long, 67 tall, and 79 wide. It weighs over 1,700 pounds in standard guise and comes equipped with a four-cylinder engine. An inline-four is also present in the Polaris RZR Pro R, and that powerplant is a 2.0-liter unit that makes an enormous 225 horsepower while the Sokol's is a 1.5 good for "only" 110, but like comparably-sided machines it has four-wheel-drive and an automatic gearbox.
Honda's iconic ATC three-wheeler is famous—or rather infamous—for a host of things, among those being one of the first mass-produced ATVs and also for the physics behind its setup that prevented it from being perfectly stable in the turns. Any way you slice it, "Big Red" was iconic, and now you can own a piece of history and a matching trailer.
CFMOTO has been cranking out a constant stream of exciting (and usually quite good) ATVs and UTVs over the last few years, and it appears the company is seeking to embrace electric drivetrain technology in the near future. Patent filings with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) reveal an array of new EV-powered machinery, and the drawings give us the first look at what may come to fruition in the coming years.
If there is one thing that is very true about ATV and Side-by-Side (SxS) owners, it is that we all like to personalize our machines to some extent. There are just so many cool accessories out there to choose from, and most of them are as functional as they are fun, making adding them to your machines something worth doing.
Owners of Polaris UTVs are spoiled for choice when it comes to upgrades and accessories, and now there's another dose of kit to choose from. DRT Motorsports has introduced a range of new products for Polaris Pro Series side-by-sides, focused on enhancing both protection and functionality. The lineup includes a front bumper, grille, and tire carrier, reflecting DRT’s commitment to producing high-quality, durable components.
Justin W. Coffey is a man who's done it all and seen it all; so, when Destination Yamaha invited him to explore Nevada's backroads with EagleRider, he was skeptical of the impression it would have on him. How could they offer an experience he hasn't already had? But, what he found wasn't necessarily access to an unattainable landscape nor some extreme, unusual encounter with the RMAX4 Compact. It was, predictably in some ways, the perfect package: no fuss, no frill, just fun.
Tough Doesn't Quit extends well beyond the powersports community, with Polaris bringing the world of rodeo to the forefront in its latest video. Featuring the “First Family of Toughness," this episode chronicles The Wright Brothers, a family that is dominating the rodeo scene.
