I figure, if you found this obscure little website, you’re probably interested in good food. Well, you’re in the right place – this little corner of the internet is where I share my love for cooking, along with some photography and bits of Texas culture and history that catch my eye.

About the Food

Now, I’m not running some fancy food empire here – just sharing what I know and love. Every recipe you’ll find is something that’s earned its place in my own kitchen, and all the photos are ones I’ve taken myself. This isn’t some boring content mill that’ll publish anything just to get a click. I post what I think is interesting or good. So, there are times that I’ll go a while between posts.

What’s Cooking

Texas and Tex-Mex Recipes – You know what makes Tex-Mex so special? It’s like a handshake between Southern cooking and Mexican cuisine. Take that chili gravy you get on enchiladas – it’s what happens when Southern brown gravy meets Mexican enchilada sauce and decides to be friends.

Mexican Recipes – Being raised in West Texas, I cut my teeth on traditional Mexican cooking, especially dishes from Chihuahua. Truth be told, there wouldn’t be Texas food without Mexican food paving the way. These recipes stay pretty true to their roots, though sometimes a little Texas influence might sneak in.

Southern Recipes – These recipes are what I’d find in my paternal grandmother’s house. Her people were from Tennessee and she held tight to those traditions. That woman could work magic in a kitchen, spending hours making everything from scratch. Some of my best memories are of her working away at her counter, flour up to her elbows.

Cooking Basics and Asides – Got some basics here too – working with chile peppers, kitchen essentials, and other useful tidbits that might come in handy.

Behind the Camera

When I’m not in the kitchen, you’ll find me out and about with my camera, capturing little pieces of Texas life.

I’m based out of Fort Worth (by way of West Texas) nowadays, so most of my photography is from around here. I’ve got big plans to start ranging further afield to capture more.
