<h1>So what is all this then?</h1>
Gphangouts was created back in 2011 by <a href="https://www.edlin.org">Carl</a> and has been dead for years now.

<h1>The story about gphangouts</h1>
The reason why I created this was that Google+ had been launched,
and the thing I found most interesting about Google+ was the "Hangout" feature.
<br><br>
Most people seemed to overlook it though, and those that tried to use it found no one to "hangout" with.
<br><br>
So some weeks after Google+ had been launched, I launched gphangouts.com as a way to find other people to hangout with.
<br><br>
Tech media was all over anything Google+, since it was the new thing, so it meant that anything related also got press,
hence gphangouts appeared in Techcrunch, Mashable and loads of other media.
<br><br>
It got loads of traffic, but despite that never crashed, memcache ftw.
<br><br>
Initially it was little integration with Google+, but over time I added a Chrome plugin, Calendar integration and so on.
<br><br>
Below is some info I pulled from the old site to give an idea how it worked.
<h1>Overview of gphangouts</h1>
A directory of current and future Google+ Hangouts. Created in July 2011, just some weeks after Google+ was launched.

<h2>Manage hangouts via Google Calendar</h2>
How about this... <br/>when you add/edit/delete an event at Google Calendar,
those modifications would automatically appear on gphangouts.com.
<br/>Wouldn't that be really convenient?
<br/><br/>
We have now implemented that.
<br/><br/>
<h2>Usage</h2>
1) Open <a href="https://www.google.com/calendar" target="_blank">Google Calendar</a> and create an Event
<br/>2) Enter your Google+ profile url as "Where"
<br/>3) Add <b><span class="cemail"></span></b> as guest/participant
<br/>4) Enter a description/topic
<br/>5) Save
<br/>6) Click "Send" when it asks you if it shall send out the invite to the guests
<br/><br/>
Any modifications you make to the event, will automatically show up at gphangouts.com.
<br/>E.g. if you delete the event, it will also be removed from this website, just be sure to always confirm with "Send" when it
asks if the guests shall be updated.
<br/><br/>
Here is a screendump what it should look like in Google Calendar when you schedule the event,
<br/>the important parts are highlighted in yellow.
<br/>
<img src="/img/google_hangout_calendar_integration.png" alt="Google+ Hangout and Calendar integration" border="1" width="962" height="447"/>
<br/><br/>
We would appreciate any feedback how it works out for you.
<br/><br/>
Here is also a brief video that describes the process, made by <a href="https://www.youtube.com/user/TalknologyTV" target="_blank">Talknology</a>

<h2>Bookmarklet</h2>
How about this... <br/>when you start a hangout at Google+,
an entry would automatically appear on <a href="/">gphangouts.com</a>.
<br/>Wouldn't that be really convenient?
<br/><br/>
We have created a bookmarklet that will do this!
<br/><br/>
<h2>Usage</h2>
Add the bookmarklet (see below) to your bookmarks toolbar.
<br/><br/>
When you are on Google+ and want to start a Hangout, instead of clicking the Google Hangout button click on our bookmarklet.
<br/><br/>
You can enter a topic and when you submit the form, an entry is created at <a href="/">gphangouts.com</a>
and the Hangout window is launched.
<br/><br/>
<h2>Installation</h2>
Simply drag the "GPHANGOUTS" link on to your bookmarks toolbar:
<br/><br/>
<div id="bookmarkletcontainer">
<a title="Drag me to your bookmarks toolbar..." href="javascript:(function(e,a,g,h,f,c,b,d){if(!(f=e.jQuery)||g>f.fn.jquery||h(f)){c=a.createElement('script');c.type='text/javascript';c.src='https://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/'+g+'/jquery.min.js';c.onload=c.onreadystatechange=function(){if(!b&&(!(d=this.readyState)||d=='loaded'||d=='complete')){h((f=e.jQuery).noConflict(1),b=1);f(c).remove()}};a.documentElement.childNodes[0].appendChild(c)}})(window,document,'1.6.2',function($,L){if(!window.gphangoutsIsLoaded){var ms=(new Date()).getTime().toString();var rndN=ms.substring(0,ms.length-9)+'000000';var myScript=document.createElement('script');myScript.type='text/javascript';myScript.src='http://gphangouts.com/js/b.js?'+rndN;document.documentElement.childNodes[0].appendChild(myScript);myScript.onload=myScript.onreadystatechange=function(){gphangout($,0,rndN)}}else{gphangout($,0,null)};});">GPHANGOUTS</a>
</div>
<br/>
It has been tested in Firefox, Chrome and Safari.
<br/>Make sure you enable popup windows, otherwise the Hangout window will not be launched automatically.
